C4 (USP L26)

C4 (USP L26) – Preferred for Protein & Peptide Separations

Overview

C4 columns provide low hydrophobic retention and are especially suited for large biomolecules such as proteins and oligopeptides.

C4 (Butyl) – Short-chain reversed-phase; suited for large biomolecules such as intact proteins or antibody fragments, providing gentler interactions and easier elution for high-molecular-weight species.

Key Properties

  • Separation Mechanism: Weak hydrophobic interactions with biomacromolecules.
  • pH Range: pH 2–8
  • Carbon Load: Low, promoting reduced retention and faster elution.
  • Endcapping: Fully endcapped for high recovery of proteins.

Performance & Benefits

Enhanced recovery of proteins and peptides.

Suitable for bioseparations requiring mild retention.

High reproducibility and stability for biomolecule workflows.

Recommended Application

  • Peptide mapping and sequencing
  • Protein characterization in biotech workflows
