C18 (USP L1)

C18 (USP L1) – Versatile Reversed-Phase Chromatography

Overview

C18 (Octadecylsilane) is the most widely used reversed-phase HPLC packing material, offering strong hydrophobic retention and broad applicability. It is considered the gold standard for small molecules, pharmaceuticals, food analysis, and environmental testing. The high carbon load provides excellent retention of non-polar and moderately polar analytes, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

Key Properties

  • Separation Mechanism: Hydrophobic interactions dominate, making it ideal for non-polar and weakly polar
  • pH Range: Typically pH 2–10; extended pH versions available.
  • Carbon Load (100Å Pore Size): High-density C18 bonding ensures enhanced separation and retention. (LEAVE THIS BLANK, ONLY WRITE SUBHEADING )
  • Endcapping: Fully endcapped for improved peak shape and minimal secondary interactions. ((LEAVE THIS BLANK, ONLY WRITE SUBHEADING
